Greetings generals, Will and I would like to organize another large Flames of War event, and one that I've been wanting to try since I started playing the game; the Battle of Kursk. So, our initial plan is to hold the event in February, to give us all over two months of preparedness for our forces and to make sure people can get their weekends aligned.
It will be a Mid War event, as the clash of titans took place in July 1943. As such, all forces will be Mid War lists and will be relegated to only builds from the Eastern Front book and any relevant PDF's for MW on the Eastern theater of war. I propose that it consist of 2000 points per player, similar to Tanksgiving, and the initial consideration will be for tank lists only. However, there were certainly a colossal amount of infantry, artillery, AT guns and planes that fought in the battle. That being said, restrictions on builds, if any, will be posted a bit later once more feedback is gathered. As for the pace of the game, there will be objectives that either side will have to achieve in order to win. I will post more on that at a later date.
As of this writing, I am looking at Saturday, February 6th as the day to game. Please post any ideas on list building, date to hold the event or any general questions.
Thank you for your time, and please check back often for more details to follow.
-Jeff

2000 points of Russian horde? What is the time limit? It took us 3.5 hours to complete Tanksgiving with 8000 points. That should give you a time frame. I need to build my Mid war t-34 turrets and buy some reinforcements.

It would be around a 3 to 4 hr affair, between game play and setup at least. But, well worth it.

All right guys, I've talked with Tony and set aside Sunday, July 24th for the Battle of Kursk. February just did not work out, but we'll be gaming in July, the month the actual battle took place. I'm working on details of what this game day will include and I'll be posting very soon on this. So, please keep your eyes pealed on the forum for more to come. And please mark your calendars for this mega battle.
Thank you, Jeff
