Woooo! First Warmachine post!
I am Pszito, a local pressganger out of the Burlington, VT area. I am a strong advocate for community, intelligent play, and painting dudemens! I am closely tied to our own gamestore, Quarterstaff Games, and have long done outreach to the NH Warmachime crew.
I play Legion, Talion Charter, Circle, and Retribution.
Take a short moment, all ye warmachiners, and raise a voice to these forums!

I am looking into getting into this game. What faction is a good start to build a army. What is my initial start up cost for fielding a starter army? What is the normal point range in the store to play.

Howdy Will!
Any faction can get you started, honestly! There is certainly a learning curve to the game mostly involving learning what all your AND your opponents models do. I strongly recommend playing literal battlebox (the starter box per faction) skirmishes until you get the mechanics down. Battleboxes are about $50 per and Faction books are $35 I believe. All you will need otherwise are some dice, measuring tape, tokens of some variety, dry erase markers with some card sleeves, and a place to play!
Typical battle sizes range from 15 to 50, with larger formats for epic scale, multi-caster battle! Most competitive events lately have been 35-50, as that offers a greater diversity of lists and models to be played!
Thanks for asking!

I have a promotion going on during the Grand Opening Weekend May 2nd-4th where I'll toss in a FREE blister worth $15 or less if you buy a battlebox, so it would be a great time to get started! A good website guide to the various models and factions of Warmachine/Hordes is battlecollege.wikispaces.com/. I'd recommend giving it a read to get a feel for the factions.

Hi all,
I'm Devon and have just started getting into Warmahordes after painting PP models for over a year and heard nothing but good things of the game. My faction is Trollbloods and thanks to Sword I've cut my teeth on a few games and started getting game mechanics down. I live in the Wells River VT area but work at Dartmouth and travel to Burlington from time to time.
I plan on attending all Thurs. Warmahordes nights I possibly can to meeting the local group.
